Paper engineering is the most essential part of my Final Major Project. That is why I've decided to start working with different paper types with and investigating what I think will work. I had a good play around with some A1 cartridge paper and started to create my own innovative shapes. Bending, twisting and folding each shape came into practise with the help of a glue stick and pen..
Here, was once a flat piece of A1 cartridge paper. Now, transformed into my own wacky 3 dimensional world. Other than cutting out shapes, I've decided to take a step further by cutting out typographical messages and creating cuts which would start to escape the sheet of paper. Now that I've had some bread and butter practice, cartridge paper will be my chosen option for my end of years exhibition. This is because I've found that cartridge paper is an excellent heavy paper which will be used at my disposal to create high quality folds as well as illustrations.
More elaborate insect illustrations have been reproduced from photographs on Adobe Illustrator. The illustration of this ladybird will definately be used to accommodate my paper anatomy.
